Why Harry Potter is a Global Phenomenon With A Cult Following *not clickbait

Image result for harry potter and the sorcerer's stone coverHarry Potter is one of the most celebrated book series of the century, and has changed the world in many ways. Not only does Harry make readers jealous of his amazing life, but he keeps readers on the edge of their seat with all his adventures. But what sets Harry apart from other characters? And other books? Like, what about the Hunger Games and Divergent? Why aren’t they as much of a world changer? Well, here’s why… Starting with one of the most obvious reasons, Harry’s relatability. While his life is crazy and could never really happen in real life, his actions are similar to what you would do in that situation. Like, even in this magical wizarding world, a lot of the tough questions/decisions he makes are things any teenager of that age would have to go through. Meanwhile, someone like Percy Jackson doesn’t go through these things, as the author tries to leave these little details out, focusing on the action. Next, another reason for it’s success is something a lot of people don’t even think about. In both Divergent and the Hunger Games, people live in a dystopian society, and live in a very negative version of our world. Then, someone comes to take them into an even worse world, where they kill and fight for their lives. But in the Harry Potter world, everything is regular, and Harry is just living a bad life. And instead of someone coming to make it worse, someone (Hagrid) comes to save him, and bring him to a place he could have only dreamed of. Everything is happy, and Harry wants to go to hogwarts, vs the negativity and sadness of other dystopian books. This creates more positivity towards the book, and makes us love to read it. It puts us in a good mood, not a bad one. And THAT, is why Harry Potter is such a big deal, and will continue to be for MANY, MAAAAAAANNNNYYYY years.
