Why Copper Sun Is My Favorite Book

Copper Sun is a very insightful and intriguing novel written by Sharon M. Draper. It allows you see through the eyes of a young girl, Amari, whose family is murdered by a group of racist white men and then, she is brought into slavery. You then see her journey including being sold to many different "owners" and being abused by many, many people. This book will give you a whirlwind of emotions. While reading it I laughed, cried and got very frustrated. Before reading this book, a book has never made me cry or feel any emotions as strongly as this one did. I learned so much about what really happens during slavery and how detrimental and important each person’s story is. Once this book is picked up and started, it is nearly impossible to put it down.
